Dosoledo

Dosoledo is an enchanting mountain village, enveloped in an atmosphere of quiet, where traditional buildings tell ancient stories and the heart of Comelico still pulsates among its stones. Nestled on the mountainside 20 minutes from the Three Peaks of Lavaredo, Dosoledo seems protected by the southern valley and the crest of historic barns, the result of the late 19th-century Rifabbrico: a complete renovation that replaced wood with stone. Dosoledo’s barn road is a photograph of yesteryear, giving an unmistakable profile to the valley.
Also known for its antique stores where you can unearth unique and timeless treasures.

The Walks

TRÒI DLI TRADIZION (TRADITION PATH)
The Tròi dli tradizion aims to represent the most characteristic cultural themes of our Community, a tale carved with passion in the larch by our artisans. The walk unites the villages of Dosoledo and Candide.

TRÒI DI BACANI (FARMERS’ PATH)
This path is meant to remind us of the labors of yesteryear, the work in the barn, in the fields, in the meadows and in the woods. It is a fascinating itinerary that transports us to the past, to a time when women collected water at the fountain with copper buckets, the fields were dedicated to the cultivation of barley, rye and flax, and the meadows were cut with the scythe. The walk joins the villages of Dosoledo and Casamazzagno.

TRÒI DI MESTIERI (TRADE PATH)
The Tròi of trades and its sculptures describe to us the jobs that characterize our valley. This trail will tell you about the Mulèta, which calls to women with scissors and knives to sharpen, the clompar, the mulnei, the fauru and the scarper, trades that remain in the memory of those who performed and experienced them. The walk unites the village of Dosoledo with that of Padola.

TRÒI DLI MASCRI (PATH OF THE MASKS)
The Tròi dli mascri offers one of the most characteristic themes of our tradition: the Carnival. Some 20 sculptures in local larch skillfully carved by our artisans will challenge the seasons and the years to come to accompany, in their own way, the walker’s progress. The walk joins the village of Dosoledo with that of Bigaran’s Barn.

Enjoy a walk in the Danta Peat Bogs, an immersive experience in the unique nature of this area of Comelico. The peat bogs are ecosystems particularly rich in biodiversity, with vegetation typical of wetland environments, including species such as mosses, sphagnum mosses, and even carnivorous plants, such as sundews. The route, which can be covered in about an hour, offers fascinating views of local flora and fauna, thanks to observation points and information panels that illustrate the characteristics of these wetland environments. The entire route, which can be completed in about two and a half hours, provides an in-depth exploration of the biodiversity of the peat bogs.

Enjoy a relaxing horseback trek to discover the unspoiled nature of Val Comelico, where the Val Comuna area is home to an exceptionally large specimen of spruce known locally as ‘The Queen of Val Comuna.’ This plant is extraordinarily large and is undoubtedly the most imposing specimen of its species in the entire Triveneto region. With a height of about 50 meters, it is estimated to be about two hundred years old. For more information click here
